A collection of works by French artist Alexandra Duprez.
In the artist’s work, everything becomes a sign. Her enigmatic pieces—dreamlike, meticulously crafted, and at times collaged—give form to stories in which fragments of everyday life dissolve into abstraction.
Her practice overflows beyond the canvas, extending to book covers she designs, repurposed cardboard, and realms beyond our expectations.
Although her body of work is diverse, it is united by an invisible, quiet thread. Within an unparalleled universe, the artist weaves a wondrous world in which dogs, horses, and snakes coexist with humans. These ever-shifting beings are presented as fragments—legs, hands, eyes—and emerge as impenetrable focal points of consciousness.
This first monograph includes over a hundred works carefully selected from her prolific output. It opens with a text by Sophie Kaplan, director of La Criée Contemporary Art Center (Rennes), followed by a conversation between the artist and Cécile Poimbœuf-Koizumi, founder of the publishing house, and photographs taken in the artist’s studio in Douarnenez, France.
Everything is a sign in Alexandra Duprez’s work. Her enigmatic pieces are wondrous tales—dreamed, crafted, and at times collaged—where fragments of life dissolve into abstraction.
Alexandra Duprez’s work overflows—off the canvas, across book covers she envelops, onto repurposed cardboard, and beyond what we can grasp of her practice.
Her body of work is diverse, yet held together by a secret, almost silent thread. Within a universe unlike any other, she weaves a wondrous world where dogs, horses, and snakes coexist with humans. Deconstructed and in flux—represented through legs, hands, or eyes—these beings emerge as impenetrable points of consciousness.
