A collection of works by British architect Peter Cook. While for many architects drawing is a functional tool for developing individual architectural projects, the visionary architect has used this medium throughout his long career to express his inexhaustible imagination. From the works produced in the 1960s for Archigram to the present day, the author's richly coloured and dense imagery has resonances beyond the realm of architecture, as demonstrated in the major solo exhibition held in 2022 at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark. His work pushes the boundaries of the norms of architecture in design and construction, making it possible to freely imagine architecture, communities and cities that are possible, or almost possible, but importantly not consciously made impossible.

For this book, the author has selected 18 projects that he considers important for understanding his creative process. It comprises 16 drawings, one architectural work and the design of the Serpentine Play Pavilion, each accompanied by text that situates it within historical, cultural and personal contexts. Furthermore, a conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine Gallery,Hans Ulrich Obrist further explores his eccentric and multifaceted 60-year career, revealing his personal journey, ideas and creative process from childhood to the present day.
