“Kama Sutra A-Z” was conceived in 2013 as an art project and exhibition by French graphic designer Malika Favre. Seven years later, she decided to compile the work into a limited-edition book co-published with Counter-Print.
The 26 letters from A to Z are each displayed as an independent artwork, accompanied by carefully selected erotic excerpts chosen by the artist. Particular emphasis is placed on the work of women poets.
The result is a diverse, timeless anthology spanning from antiquity to the present day, including works by renowned poets such as Sandra Cisneros, Yusef Komnianyaka, Stephanie Bate, Warsan Shire, Kyle Dargan, and Michael Fordet.
The dialogue created by this approach highlights the timeless importance of erotica and celebrates joy, pleasure, and sensuality.
Vatsyayana once wrote: “As long as lips kiss and eyes meet, this shall live on and give you life.”
This book was designed by Counter-Print and printed in Italy. The cover is gold-leafed, and the edges of the book are printed matte black.
