A photo book and art project by Greek photographer Kostis Argyriadis
The way humans live in the “labyrinth” of the modern city
Quiet resistance and struggle against the systems of modern society
expressed through a combination of black-and-white photography and text
Highly acclaimed by Milena Ill of the French photography magazine
“Fisheye Magazine” as a “manifesto of images that shakes our everyday lives and awakens a longing for transformation”
Greek writer and political activist Chronis Michos said
“When I realized that I cannot change the system, I put all my energy, so the system won’t change me”.
He points out the structural limitations of how the loneliness of humans seeking “freedom” within the signs of the city and
even all acts of resistance against that system (such as subculture and fashion)
are ultimately absorbed by the capitalist system itself
and re-consumed as commodities
While aware of the contradiction that this photo book itself cannot escape its “destiny of being sold and consumed by the system”...
Even as I write these words
I still want to wander into the “labyrinth” of cities on Earth yet unknown
I suppose that is human nature
